Hey all,
Sorry I forgot to mention that had decided to create another blog because my old one was really messed up. And the reason why I did not inform you guys earlier is due to the fact that my computer had been down for the past week or two. Well so now Im going to discuss about a topic that we had for our News in Class last week that really interests me. The topic is about the government re-hiring old and retired workers.
In the news, you would have read about the elderly being unable to even afford food and have to survive on handouts from charitable organisations. Now, with this scheme in place, the number of the jobless elderly would be less and in the unfortunate event of his or her children being unfilial or also unable to support him or her would not be so disastrous.
Also, younger workers benefit too. they would be able to learn from the older workers who have much greater experience in that field of work compared to them. The older workers can also instill in them the right values like integrity, determination and the willingness to work hard.
I applaud the government for his actions over this matter. In the mordern society, people have this mentality that younger workers can work faster and are more effecient. Therefore, they tend to forget the older workers. But now you can see that this scheme benefits both generations. So well done, Singapore Government!
